Cape Breton Music Roundup #24 - February 20 - February 21 2015
Well with no sign of the weather letting up, the least you can do for yourself is get out and treat yourself to one of the excellent shows happening around the Island this weekend. Crowdis Bridge in Whycocomagh is our top recommendation for the weekend. Murder, Murder and Eastcoast Love Story will be in town this weekend stomping up Governor's. A hard rocking Friday night at Embers follows up a great after work party at Daniel's. Check our recos below and check out our full list of shows at Music Guide Cape Breton.
- Friday February 20 2015
- After-Work Party with John Curtis Sampson - Daniel's, Sydney
- 6 PM
- Our after work party recommendation this week comes courtesy of Daniel's and long time local favourite songsmith John Curtis Sampson. When the work bell dings, head down for a pint and some great tunes.
- John Paul & The Grassfire with Long Island Road and Blair Lucas & The Apple Corps - Embers Southern Barbeque, Sydney
- 11 PM
- $8
- Another great night of tunes at Embers. This time featuring hard rocking John Paul and The Grassfire along with Long Island Road and Blair Lucas and the Apple Corps. This will be a hard hitting, heavy rocking night, great to melt the ice.
- Saturday February 21 2015
- Murder Murder with East Coast Love Story & Jordan Musycsyn - Governor's Pub, Sydney
- 10:30 PM
- $8
- Hailing from Sudbury is the six piece, self described as a Bloodgrass band, Murder Murder. With songs filled with bluegrass, outlaw country and murder ballads, this is truly a unique sound. Joining them will be Moncton's high octane folk, Eastcoast Love Story. Opening the night will be local favourite Jordan Musycsyn.
- Crowdis Bridge - Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre, Whycocomagh
- 9 PM
- $20
- Our top recommendation for the weekend is a great show from the excellent bluegrass, folk trio Crowdis Bridge. The thoughtful harmonies and old-tyme vibe should help break through the winter blues so if you are in the area make sure to get it to this one
