Various - Heritage Day Celebrations - 2015

Nova Scotia has new Holiday this year, Heritage Day. In celebration several locations are having events. Check out below for some festivities.

Louisbourg Celebrates: Heritage Day
Sunday, February 22 from 11:30 AM-1:30 PM.  

  • Special focus on 50 years of the Canadian flag. Test your knowledge with a flag quiz, sing the national anthem during the raising of the flag and get some fresh air with our first ever played Capture the Flag game. 
  • Warm up beside the campfire in the King's Bastion courtyard with marshmallow roasting and Heritage hot chocolate. Bring a picnic and your snowshoes. Audio-guided tours of the grounds will also be available.


Two Rivers Wildlife Park - Heritage Day Activities

  •  Free Wagon Rides from 1 PM - 3 PM with Regular Park Admission
  •  Canteen will be open
  •  Weather Permitting: Coasting, Skating, Animal Trail Open, Cross Country Skiing & Snow Shoeing
  •  Park open from 10 AM - 5 PM

Cape Breton Highlands - Special Event - Ingonish Triathlon

Cape Breton Highlands - Special Event - Ingonish Triathlon

Following up on the Cabot Trail Relay is another great outdoor physical event, the Ingonish Triathlon. Comprised of four events covering beginner to experienced for participants of all levels.

  • Sprint Triathlon (minimum age 16) - 750 m swim, 23 km bike, 5 km run
  • Olympic Triathlon (minimum age 19) - 1,500 m swim, 42 km bike, 10 km run
  • Try-a-Tri (minimum age 14) - 300 m swim, 9.2 km bike, 4 km run
  • Team Triathlon - same distance as Sprint


Cash prizes for top three men and women in Olympic and Sprint.

The event takes place June 22 8am at the Ingonish Beach Day Use Area. Pre-registration is required, see www.atlanticchip.ca
