Cape Breton Music Roundup #8 - October 16 - October 18 2014
What a week! If you are a fan of music and haven't been enjoying all that is going on around the Island, get out and take in some shows.Tthere is still some Celtic Colours left to go, including a great final show in Sydney that as of this writing still had some tickets available as well as some excellent non Celtic Colours shows (Old Man Luedecke in Port Hawkesbury FTW!).Check out Celtic Colours schedule for an overview of the remaining shows and for more details and more shows check out our Music Guide Cape Breton web app.
- Thursday October 16 2014
- Celtic Colours - Festival Club - Gaelic College, St Ann's
- 11 PM
- $20 / $10 with concert ticket stub
- The Festival Club at the Gaelic College in St Ann's actually closes out every night Celtic Colours. It features impromptu performances from the evenings performers and often times will feature special guests. It starts at 11 and may not shut down until the sun is coming up (again, even).
- Friday October 17 2014
- Keith Mullins with special guest Jonathan Kanary - Governors Pub, Sydney
- 10 PM
- $8
- Performing in support of his latest album "Island Sol", come out and check out Keith with special guest Jonathan Kanary, who has a co-writing credit on the album as they share some great tunes. Should be a great time.
- Saturday October 18 2014
- Old Man Luedecke - Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre, Port Hawkesbury
- 8 PM
- $20
- If you can`t tell from my aside above, I`m quite a fan of Old Man. Just Mr. Luedecke and his banjo taking names and kicking butt! In all seriousness, he is one of the better singer/songwriters out there and I can't recommend this show highly enough.
- Celtic Colours - Together Again: Natalie’s Reunion - Center 200, Sydney
- 7:30 PM
- $60/50/40/25, Reserved Seating
- Celtic Colours big final show in Sydney. The finale show is always a great one and this one is shaping up to be no exception. Featuring Natalie MacMaster, Sharon Shannon, J.P. Cormier, Tim Edey, Beòlach and Tim Ede. Tickets were still available at the time of writing, another high recommend.
- Floodland with special guests Carmen Townsend Band & Jordan Musycsyn - Governor`s Pub
- 10 PM
- $8
- Floodland is an up and coming indie band from Halifax, dynamic, intricate and infectious tunes highlight their repertoire. Also featured will be local favourites Carmen Townsend and Jordan Musycyn. Should make for an interesting show.
- Thirty Aught Six, Snap the Butterfly, and Keith Doom and the Wrecking Crew - Fox Den, Sydney
- 10 PM
- Looking for something a bit more hard rocking for your Saturday Night. The We Unite series continues at the Fox Den featuring Thirty Aught Six, Snap the Butterfly, and Keith Doom and the Wrecking Crew, expect a night of high energy and heavy tunes.
