Located in the beautiful community of Iona, Iona Beach is located next to the government wharf, your first right after the bridge.  This is one of my all time favourite spots and allows you to swim in the wonderful Bras d'Or Lakes.  If swimming isn't your thing, the wharf has been known to be an excellent spot for fishing.  MacCormack Beach Provincial Park is located further up the hill and provides change/wash rooms and and is a great spot to stop for a quick snack if you have one packed.  Grand Narrows convenience is located on the other side of the bridge down Grand Narrows Dr., there is also an NSLC located in the store.  As well, just past the convenience store is Grand Narrows Waterfront.

Protip: Jumping off the wharf!  Seriously

Protip 2: If returning towards Sydney/North Sydney - Beaver Cove Convenience for snacks and or ice cream.


More Favourite Beaches

The hills of Cape Breton are on full display at Dundee Golf and Resort.  The course actuallys runs down the side of South Mountain providing you with wonderful views of the nearby Bras d'Or Lakes.  The course is fairly challenging for any almost any level of golfer.  A highly recommended stop for all golf fans.
