Cape Breton Music Roundup #18 - January 8 - January 11 2015
I hope the holidays were good for everyone, we had an excellent couple of weeks on this end but now it's back to a regular schedule. We'll be back hopefully every Thursday with a new roundup of the weekend's best shows, starting with this one! Since the temperature is continuing to fall we are going to try and find some of the top live events to keep you warm for this weekend and check out Music Guide Cape Breton, at it's new location on our main Travel Guide Cape Breton site(!), which is getting closer to full launch every week, for our full list of shows.
- Thursday January 8 2015
- Decota McNamara and Chrissy Crowley - Governor's Pub, Sydney
- 10:30 PM
- $7
- We're back with a great kickoff show. Expect some high tempo tunes and great times with Decota McNamara plucking away while Chrissy Crowley brings the fiddle jams. A great way to start the weekend early or end the week right with a pints!
- Jordan Musycsyn and Mike LeLievre - Old Triangle Irish Alehouse, Sydney
- 7 PM
- No Cover Charge
- Fresh off their New Years show, Jordan Musycsyn and Mike LeLievre bring the good times to the Old Triangle. An early start at 7 PM start makes for an almost after work vibe for this show, should be a great time.
- Friday January 9 2015
- Songwriter's Session with Mike LeLievre, John Paul Bergeron and Colette Deveaux - Governor's Pub Sydney
- 10:30 PM
- $7
- Governor's continues our weekends lineup. A top notch group for this songwriters session with Mike LeLievre back for another night, I think this guy likes to play music, John Paul Bergeron and Colette Deveaux. A back to back to kick off the weekend could be a great time, just sayin'.
- Saturday January 10 2015
- Colin Grant & Maybelle Chisholm - Doryman's Tavern, Chéticamp
- 3 PM
- Don't feel left out Northern Cape Breton. With Colin Grant and Maybelle Chisholm in for a Saturday Matinee, you've got one of the best ways to spend the day this weekend. If the snow comes get out to check this out after some cleanup
- The High Tide with Analog Signal and Keith Doom & The Wrecking Crew, Embers Southern Barbeque, Sydney
- 11 PM
- Some sad news over the holidays was the closing of the Fox Den in Sydney. Frig that though, onward and upward! We Unite are back promoting this show at Embers Southern Barbeque, which looks to be adding some jams to it's BBQ. The High Tide, Analog Signal and Keith Doom for this first show of the new year for Embers is a great start with hopefully many more great shows to come! Our top recommendation of the weekend.
- Sunday January 11 2015
- Shelly Campbell - Celtic Music Interpretive Centre, Judique
- 3 PM
- $8
- Sunday Ceilidhs are back in Judique. If you are in the area or the weather co-operates this is a great show to get out and get back in the jig of things with Shelly Campbell.
