See below for a copy of the daily event schedule for the Fortress of Louisbourg during the Louisbourg 300 celebrations.  Both Peak and Shoulder Season schedules are presented below.

Peak Season = July 1, 2013 (Canada Day) to September 2, 2013 (Labour Day)

Shoulder Season = May 20 (Victoria Day) to June 30th and September 3, 2013 to October 14 (Thanksgiving Day)

Peak Season Activities


The Fortress of Louisbourg bustles with activity every day throughout the peak season. Here is a sampling of what you can expect:


  • Orientation tours
  • Guided tours (twice daily, registration and fees apply) 
  • Exhibit buildings open for viewing 
  • Visit with the residents and military of Louisbourg. Tour their homes and places of work, hear their stories of life at Louisbourg in the 18th century.
  • Public announcements by the town crier, military demonstrations and the daily public punishment scene that unfolds at various times throughout the day (check the "Daily Activities" schedule upon arrival)
  • Chat with the baker, purchase freshly baked bread in the bakery
  • Smell the coal burning, step back from the flames, watch in awe as a piece of iron is transformed into a useful tool while the blacksmith recounts his story in the forge
  • Inquire about the Lycée de Louisbourg, which offers hands-on experiences and training in some of the most interesting aspects of 18th-century life at Louisbourg (registration and fees apply)
  • Restaurant, café and boutique are open for business

Shoulder Season Activities


Even if you visit the Fortress of Louisbourg during the shoulder season, there are several ways to experience the site. These include:

  • Guided tours (twice daily, registration and fees apply)
  • Time Travel (three times per day: 10 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.  $8.75 per person)
  • Exhibit buildings open for viewing 
  • Geocaching (GPS devices available) 
  • Explora rentals (Explora is a hand-held touring device) 
  • Access to Louisbourg's Ruins Walk
  • Please note that as we approach the peak season, some additional buildings with costumed interpreters may open to the public.
